PARTY session: Fused Glass Play
Beginner level: Cost $50-65 per person
Group of 4 to 6 students make the same project under guidance.
In a 1-2 hour session, students will be guided to create a small art piece, using pre-cut/pre-fused glass pieces and glass Frits or Powders. The completed work will be fused by the Studio, and ready for pick-up at a later date.
Cost includes up to 0.5 square foot of glass, use of all tools and materials, and kiln firing.
Examples of projects: Trinket dish, Coaster, Tea-light holder, Sun-catcher, mini-wreath, Flower bouquet panel, Ornament, Small Xmas trees.
EXPLORE: Introduction to Fused Glass Art
Beginner level: Cost $75 per person
In this 2 hour session, you will be guided to create an art piece of your choice. Base glass shapes will be provided for you to decorate in your style.
Usage of basic glass tools will be taught, for scoring and cutting glass pieces. You will cut, nip and grind glass pieces to fit your design. You can choose to work with Glass Powders, and/or Frits and Stringers, to create/enhance the designs. The assembled work will be fused by the Studio, and ready for pick-up at a later date.
Cost includes up to 1 square foot of glass, use of all tools and materials, and kiln firings.
Examples of projects: Mushroom caps (includes stem), Cheese/appetizer platter, Trays, Coral bowls, Candy bowls, Curved Picture frame, Medium Xmas Trees (includes stand or hanger).
EXPAND: Introduction to Fused Glass Art
Intermediate level: Cost $125 per person
This class has two sessions, each 2 hours long. The first session will build on the EXPLORE class. You will be taught additional techniques of working with glass, and guided to create a small art piece, using glass pieces you have cut and applying specific techniques. The assembled work will be fused and slumped by the Studio, and ready for pick-up at a later date.
Cost includes up to 1 square foot of glass, use of all tools and materials, studio molds, and kiln firings.
Examples of projects: Fruit bowl, , Wall hangings (Fish, Birds, Leaves etc)
EXCEL: Introduction to Fused Glass Art
Complex projects: $300 per person
EXPAND session is a prerequisite.
This class has series of 4- 5 connected sessions, for a total of 9 hours of instruction. Duration will be varied, from 1 to 3 hrs per session. Building on the skills learned in the EXPAND session, you will be taught additional skills like glass grinding and stenciling. You will be introduced to various types of glass products (sheet glass, crushed glass etc.), and different techniques. Basic principals of glass fusing will also be taught.
With guidance, you will construct two complete projects, using two different techniques.
You will cut glass, assemble your design, and place in Kiln for fusing. Once fused, you will set it in your chosen mold, and place in kiln for slumping (shaping). Once fused and slumped, you will ‘finish’ it for display, by attaching a hanger to the back, or adding stabilizing ‘feet’, as needed.
Cost includes up to 2 square feet of glass, use of all tools and materials, studio molds, and kiln firing.
Examples of projects: Larger bowls, Platters, Wall art panels.
